Case Study on Saaraketha by the University of Queensland, Australia

A research team representing the University of Queensland is currently in Sri Lanka, conducting a case study on the journey of Saaraketha; challenges faced, possible solutions and lessons learned. This team consists of individuals with highly dynamic personalities with a passion for studying business process.

Dr. Wasana Bandara (Phd)

Wasana is a fully tenured Senior Lecturer at the Information Systems School of Queensland University of Technology. She is also currently the Academic Program Manager for Business Process Management education at Queensland University of Technology. Herresearch is around the areas of Business Process Management/ Modeling success, IT evaluation, IS/ BPM capability development, IS Research methods and Shared Services. She is a passionate teacher and hasbeen teaching for more than 12 years.

She has publications in many Journals, International Conference Papersand Books. She has also taken part in International Workshops and Panels including:

  • The 17th European Conference of Information Systems held in Italy, 2009
  • The 20th Australasian Conference of Information Systems held in Melbourne, Australia, 2009

Syed Rehan

Syed is a senior academic with a Masters Degree in Project Management from University of Southern Queensland and an MBA in Financial Management from Eastern Mediterranean University-North Cyprus and Southeastern University-USA. His research is in the areas of Business Process Management, Project Management, Technopreneurship, and Information Systems Strategy.

He was Director Local Technical Secretariat for Improving Relevance and Quality of Undergraduate Education (IRQUE) Project that was a World Bank Sponsored initiative in Sri Lanka and provided strategic directions, planning and implementation activities for the project. He has been involved in setting up new operations including the Staffordshire University Law School for APIIT in Sri Lanka and ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System. He is an active researcher with publications in many national and international research conferences.

Angel De Silva

Angel is a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from University of Mysore, India. She is currently in training on Plant Tissue Culture at the Industrial Training Institute and on Genetic Engineering at Genetech School of Gene Technology.

She is currently conducting research activities as a research assistant on Business Process Management for developing countries in collaboration with Queensland University of Technology under Dr. Wasana Bandara.

Malshani Gamage

Malshani is an undergraduate of Food Science and Nutrition in her third year at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. She plays the role of ‘Chief Project Liaison’ of the research conducted into the Business Process Modeling of Saaraketha.

She is currently a teacher of Speech and Drama at the Gateway Language Centre and a training journalist at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
